Harvest Park Middle School, in Pleasanton, CA (San Francisco Bay Area), participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring during the month of January, leading up to the Super Bowl. Leadership students decorated football-themed collection containers for each classroom and the office. Each Friday on HPTV, our closed-circuit TV broadcast featured student-produced public service announcements to educate the students and staff about the impact of hunger in our community. Some teachers held classroom challenges and even matched their class's donations. Several students donated their lunch money to the cause. We raised $2,355.51 to benefit Open Heart Kitchen, a local food program that provides boxed lunches to school children, and lunches and dinners to individuals and families in the Tri-Valley area. We appreciate the generosity of our students, staff, parents and the Pleasanton community.
