Because of epic snowfall on Feb. 4, it took a couple of Sundays for Gloria' Dei's Sunday School class to reach and exceed their modest goal of $100. Seven-year-old Mackenize took the microphone during parish announcements, and proudly proclaimed on behalf of her classmates and in keeping with that Sunday's lesson on the work of angels, "We are angels and we are collecting for children's programs at Hope Ministries." Our members opened their hearts and pocketbooks over the next two weeks, filling the soup kettles with $210. The collection was given to Hope4Kids, an early intervention preschool within Hope Ministries. Said Angela Snyder, children's services coordinator, "Hope4Kids is the only HighScope certified program in a homeless shelter in the nation."
