Reports are coming in from all over the nation, from Hawaii to Maine to California to South Carolina! Collections are reported from places of worship with thousands of attendees and even individual Super Bowl parties with just a few friends. We have talked to schools, businesses and individuals who all united under the same inspiration: Giving and serving around the time of the Big Game to help tackle hunger.
While the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots battled it out on the football field, thousands of groups in the host city, Houston, united to tackle hunger. So far, the greater Houston area has generated over $2 million in cash and food items for 50 local charities. One of the largest collections was generated by the Boys Scouts - Sam Houston Area Council, who blanketed hundred of neighborhoods and collected more than 150,000 pounds of food.
Meanwhile our Online Collections did great this year, with over $4,000 raised across the country. There's still time left on some of the drives, so feel free to purchase some food if you can.
Whether if you're an individual, school, place of worship or business, thank you for helping us change the game this season. If you've wrapped up your collection for the year, don't forget to report your totals, so you can be included in the growing national numbers.
