How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring? We heard about Souper Bowl of Caring via promotional materials that were mailed to the church.
Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team?We wanted to have an event where the Youth of the church could help the local community by participating in a fun event.
What does your group do to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring movement? The Youth with the help of Elder Henry Barrow, former radio commenter for the Miami Dolphins back in the 70's, prepare a Soup Lunch the first Sunday of February. Members pay a fee based on several categories - Are they going to watch the game? Do they know what teams are playing? What's the Super Bowl?
What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items?Promoting the event as much as possible.
Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.Riviera Presbyterian Church has a food pantry and we provide family size bag of grocery for a family of four and also single bags that contain food that does not need cooking for those that are homeless. We use the funds raised to purchase $10 gift cards for local grocery stores so recipients of the bags may purchase items such as eggs, milk, and other perishable items.
What does participating in Souper Bowl of Caring mean to your group?Gives the youth of the church an opportunity to help the local community.
