On April 28th, Souper Bowl of Caring honored its founder, Dr. Brad Smith, by presenting him with the 2016 Visionary Award. Since starting the movement in 1990, Brad has been a tireless supporter of our organization. He helped it grow from a youth group activity to a national organization that involves thousands of participants each year. Listening to him speak about his vision always gets us excited to continue growing and reaching more people.
We were happy to hold the luncheon in Columbia, South Carolina, the birthplace of Souper Bowl of Caring. Extra huge shout-out to South Carolina Director Sumner Bender for organizing the luncheon! It was fantastic.
You can watch the video below to learn a little more about who Brad is and why he's deserving of this award:
The video was created by our own Jamie Clark and features talks from not only Brad, but also a number of friends and family. Look for board member Chris Goodall, South State Bank CEO Robert Hill, former Souper Bowl of Caring President Tracy Bender, and past-NYAB member Grace Smith (She also happens to be Brad's daughter!)
