Once a year, Texas grocery retailers put aside their differences and join together for Souper Bowl of Caring to fight hunger. Albertsons, Central Market, H-E-B, Kroger, Market Street, Randalls and Tom Thumb all help drive the movement in the state of Texas through store campaigns hosted in Austin, North Texas and Houston. They sell hunger bags and take cash donations at the register. 100 percent goes to local food banks and pantries.
In 2015, they collected over 5 million meals for hungry and hurting Texans. Their service to the community is such a blessing to our cause. We are continually overwhelmed by their constant support to feed the hungry and raise awareness about poverty. They serve as a prime example of how local grocery stores and businesses can make a difference in communities, and how they can make an even larger impact if they work together.
We are truly humbled by our Texas grocers and their partnership. We appreciate all of our participants and cannot wait to see the milestones ahead for us in the future.
