First Baptist Church of Honea Path, thank you so much for all you do! We are so blessed to have had you on our team for the past 22 years! It is because of you that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year! Way to go.
How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring? We have participated for 22 consecutive years, and I think it was a mailing from Columbia, SC.
Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team? After receiving information on the "Souper Bowl" it was evident that the Souper Bowl slogan of simple but significant was so apparent, and we wanted to be part of the team.
What does your group do to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring movement? We have Mission projects to assist needy and elder members of the church. The youth participate in skits, singing, announcements to promote the Souper Bowl effort.
What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items?Publish, educate, on occasion do skits (from Souper Bowl of Caring resource center) verbal request to the church family and stand with the bowls at the door on Souper Sunday and the Lord just blesses.
Was there any particularly meaningful or moving story from your collection you would like to share?Every Souper Sunday has its own moving story, but I feel when you share the offering with the agency and see the appreciation on their faces that covers it all.
Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.We generally select a Local agency like the Community Chest because it can help many local people. However, we have selected Hospice, Alzheimer's, American Cancer Association, etc. to receive the offering.
Are there any resources you feel Souper Bowl of Caring could develop to enhance your collection?Just keep the website resources available.
What does participating in Souper Bowl of Caring mean to your group? It gives them a great example of teaming up as youth and asking the Church congregation to join with them to help those individuals that are less fortunate or those agencies that were mentioned earlier.
What does it mean to you?To be part of the team effort to help others is a very rewarding experience.
