Your Name: Beatrix Weil
Location: Princeton, NJ
NYAB Term(s): 2007-2008; 2008-2009; 2009-2010
Update us! What has happened to you since you last served on the NYAB?I have graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration. I majored in Psychology and Management Consulting. Through playing saxophone in the University of Notre Dame Marching Band/Jazz Band/Symphonic Wind Ensemble, I traveled to Brazil, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, England, New Zealand, and Australia.
What are you doing now?I am pursuing my M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. I am called to ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA) possibly as a parish pastor or a campus minister. I play the saxophone in the Princeton University Jazz Ensemble and I work at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
How would you say serving on the NYAB influenced your life?Serving on the NYAB taught me about organizing and planning projects, teamwork, and communication. I discovered my love of serving. Serving others keeps me grounded when it is very easy to lose sight of the important things in my life. I can't learn to be a minister just by reading and listening to lectures--I learn how to do ministry by going out and ministering!
Anything you would like to tell future NYAB members?I am praying for you and your work with the Souper Bowl of Caring. I know that the SBoC is doing incredible work for our vulnerable populations.
Final thoughts?Thank you for the memories and guidance that helped me grow into the person I am today.
No, thank you, Beatrix Weil! We enjoyed working with you for three years! You helped grow the National Youth Advisory Board into what it is today.
